Founded in the 1800’s, the family owned and operated Lucky Hotel (formerly The Lucky Country) has been one of Newcastle’s most iconic hotels. In an effort to restore the building’s original facade and bring the famous hotel back to life, the McCloy Group invested in extensive renovations. When The Lucky reopened its doors in late August 2014, patrons walked into a spacious, brick-walled courtyard where traditional architecture is juxtaposed with modern design features. The Lucky offers a unique inner-city dining atmosphere, with authentic American BBQ and refreshing wines and beers, all accompanied by local music. There are even 29 boutique rooms upstairs, intended for visitors to Newcastle who desire good quality CBD accommodation.
The Lucky’s owners describe their venue as artistic, charming and cheeky–a luminous mix of old and new. SGD brought this brand to their website through engaging design, subtle colouring, and a video-background on the home page which highlights The Lucky’s multifaceted personality.
Goals for this website included more than a great-looking design, though. The site needed to have areas for the visitor to book accommodations, make reservations, and sign up for the venue’s newsletter. In addition, it was essential that information such as menus, specials, and current events be incorporated in a well-designed and easily-updated manner. SGD used the latest web technologies to deliver on these goals, while keeping the site’s appearance deceptively simple.
With its unique design that blends modern trends with a classic feel, fulfilment of multiple business goals, social media integration, and high level of responsiveness, The Lucky’s website is one of our finest creations.
