After being entrusted with the web design and development of SoCal Sydney, The Botanist and Bondi Hardware, we were understandably thrilled to get the opportunity to do the same for Applejack Hospitality’s newest venue: The Butler Sydney. This restaurant occupies the same site in Potts Point as the historic “Butlers Restaurant,” to which the new place pays tribute while also adding its own fresh, modern flair.
For The Butler Sydney we designed a brand that reflects the venue’s atmosphere as an exotic, eclectic oasis in Potts Point. Just like the garden surrounding the restaurant and the foliage painted on its sandstone walls, the website gives the visitor an impression of vibrant, natural life. The theme uses colours of forest green as well as pink and beige sandstone to suggest a French colonial locale. The logo–a capital “B”–also incorporates these colours, representing a sandstone structure rising out of vegetation.
To convey the activity of the venue, we included several moving parts in the site, such as an opening video, parallax scrolling and shapes that change color or move when the visitor hovers over them. The content on the menu pages is laid out in such a way as to resemble leaves on a vine.
This website has it all: complete menus, bookings, gift cards you can purchase online, news & events, a gallery laid out like mason tiles and a contact page with an interactive map and plenty of information on how to get in touch with The Butler. You can even take a virtual tour of Applejack Hospitality’s venues.
With mobile-friendliness, social media integration and consistent branding across all media, The Butler makes sure their customers have a high-quality experience at the restaurant and online. Open for business in Potts Point, The Butler is also ready to seamlessly receive enquiries, bookings and gift card purchases online, not to mention attract more customers.
