Founded in 1985 with six clubs, the Horse Riding Clubs Association of Victoria Inc. now has a membership of 244 clubs and nearly 6,000 riders spread across parts of Victoria, and parts of NSW and South Australia. The HRCAV provides affordable equestrian competition opportunities for riders who otherwise wouldn’t have those opportunities.
As HRCAV grew, the need for a professionally-designed, full-featured website became apparent. Their existing website had all the information present, but in an outdated, hard-to-navigate design that did not reflect the Association’s true image or values.
Through strategy sessions with HRCAV, SGD found that the new website had to fulfil three major goals:
To address the website’s overall image – and to improve the Association’s digital image – SGD designed the feel of the site to give the visitor a first impression of a professional organisation run by members, for members. We implemented the HRCAV’s colours, but in a subtle and pleasantly-contrasting manner, and peppered the site with high-quality photos of horses and riders; enough to be pleasing, but not so many that it became crowded.
SGD implemented the latest in WordPress tools, as well as pre-design planning, to address navigation and organisation. We created custom framework to allow for easily-updated dynamic content, so that when HRCAV updates, for example, their blog Chaff Chat, the change is reflected in navigation sections that link to it.
If you want a website that is easy to update and aligns with your brand, please drop us a line and we’ll be happy to make your life easier!

We were very happy with the service provided by James and his team. Friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble. They nailed our design brief and everyone is thrilled with the new HRCAV website. Thanks SGD!
